Mich, Moi, Me
I consider an 80 x 24 terminal a comfy place.
I am a systems analyst / developer, I have no formal qualifications of any kind apart from being “good with computers” as the people around me have been telling me for a long time. I grew up with books about Basic and Assembly with an 8-bit micro connected to the TV. Early BBS’s and the Internet furthered my education to bring me where I am today.
I primarily work on real-time systems, I manage and verify datasets of various sizes and I dabble in open-source. I have been labelled with the words “High Level” and been called a “Paragon” by my peers. I don’t run Arch BTW.
Being entirely unqualified makes me superbly qualified to have an opinion on everything.
Political
I think politics are currently going in either extreme, there is little middle ground. I will say that the alt-left is more incoherent and harder to debate with than the alt-right. I consider myself mostly moderate. The following image covers a large portion of my current sentiments.
Rationale
I have become increasingly disappointed in how both the Australian and New Zealand governments are handling the Covid situation and politics in general. The narrative is going unquestioned, the mainstream news is primarily in the business of publishing fear pornography and society is now firmly in the grasp of the “Cult of Vaccination”. The net result of this is reduced freedoms, censorship and a cost (not just financially) that, I think, few realize.
As the goal-posts keep moving and the narrative is being doubled or tripled down upon, it is only creating a recipe for disaster.
I have little political means or clout for that matter, so I choose to write as a therapeutic effort and in the hope that maybe I have picked out a detail that someone missed or that it helps someone to become more resilient in these interesting times. Maybe, just maybe, it is enough to cause worthwhile debate and progress somewhere even if I am wrong.
I also wanted a place containing long form content. A terrible development is how modern culture is trying to compress the most complex topics in 140 characters or think a 30 second video is going to save the world.
If you have 17 minutes, consider the following video which explains where we are now in terms of technology, algorithms and human behaviour:

Contact
Your first point of contact should be your representatives.
Your second point of contact should be the people who are doing a far better job at getting information out than me and the various grassroot efforts. (See The Link List)
If you disagree with me, close your browser window, open a new one, lookup the “Streisand Effect”, have a cup of tea and carefully decide what you do next. If a pop-culture reference is more your thing:
“If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
Having said that, I lurk in AUS/pol/ and /NZG/ threads but usually find my opinion expressed there so I rarely have the need to shitpost.
For now consider this a public diary and your author is content being part of the “Beautiful Ones” for now.
I have no social media accounts, this website serves as my own platform free of censorship and arbitrary standards of discussion.
Colophon
